Ambra Angiolini brings to Naples, at the Teatro San Ferdinando, the theatrical adaptation of the show “Oliva Denaro”, based on the novel by Viola Ardone. The show, scheduled from March 18 to 23, is directed by Giorgio Gallione and stars Ambra Angiolini.
The sets and costumes are by Guido Fiorato, the lighting design by Marco Filibeck, and the music by Paolo Silvestri. The production is by Goldenart Production – Agidi.
A tale of emancipation
The story, based on real events, draws inspiration from the story of Franca Viola, the young Sicilian woman who in the 60s refused a “repair marriage” after being raped. Ardone’s novel retraces and reinterprets these experiences with a magical narrative, introducing the character of Oliva, a young woman who faces an antiquated society and legislation.
Family conflicts and personal growth
Oliva Denaro's drama explores family ties, generational conflicts and the struggle for women's emancipation in a historical context in which social and legal norms limited women's freedoms. The character of Oliva challenges the conventions of the time, supported by a hesitant father and a mother who gradually breaks the chains of shame and submission. Director Giorgio Gallione emphasizes the theatrical aspect and the message of liberation and self-awareness conveyed by Ardone's writing. "Oliva Denaro" is therefore proposed as a story of resistance and freedom, a work that continues to resonate with modern audiences, reflecting on women's struggles and rights.

The idea of bringing this show to Naples seems interesting to me, but I don't know if the audience is ready for such a strong story. The story of Oliva Denaro is really touching and deserves attention, I hope it works well.
