Giugliano – The Court of Review of Naples has annulled the seizure order of assets against the former mayor of Giugliano, Antonio Poziello, in office from 2015 to 2020. Poziello had been investigated as part of an inquiry by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA) into alleged links between the Camorra and politics.
The former mayor, defended by the lawyer Michele Giametta, was arrested last February 3 with a precautionary custody order in prison, later revoked by the same Review. In recent days, the court also ordered the return of the seized assets.
The cancellation of the measure represents a new development in the investigation, which had shed light on the relationship between public administration and organized crime in the municipality of the metropolitan area of Naples.
