Naples – The Rai headquarters in Naples is safe. The governor of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, has announced a €16 million financing for the renovation of the Rai production center in Naples, thus averting the risk of closure.
“We have averted a threat that had arisen of the closure of the Rai headquarters in Naples,” De Luca declared during the presentation of the renovation project.
“A few years ago we also started a collaborative work for audiovisual productions, from Bastardi di Pizzofalcone to Amica Geniale, Mare Fuori, Mina Settembre, L'avvocato Malinconico. We also lent a hand during the Covid period, but above all we decided to contribute to the complete renovation of the Rai center in Naples”.
The regional funding, equal to 16 million euros, will be used to make the Rai center in Fuorigrotta earthquake-proof, to expand it and to introduce new technologies to make the production center competitive.
“Rai in Naples has an immense heritage in the archive that preserves the history of Neapolitan song but also many cultural testimonies in our country,” De Luca emphasized. “Important work is needed and therefore we co-finance half of this work.”
The renovation works, which are estimated to last two years, will not interrupt Rai productions. The design is nearing completion and the tender should be announced within two months.
At the end of the press conference, De Luca did not make any statements regarding the Constitutional Court ruling expected tomorrow on his candidacy for a third consecutive term.

Governor De Luca's announcement is good for the city of Naples and Rai. But I have some doubts about how these 16 million will be spent. I hope that the work is done well and that there are no delays.
