A new extension has taken residents of Ischia, with observations on the Reconstruction Plan of the island's municipalities hit by the devastating earthquake of 2017 and the landslide events of 2022. The deadline for submitting observations is now extended until May 2nd.
The decision to extend the deadline was made at the request of the Campania Region and the mayor of the municipality of Casamicciola Terme. The intent is to align the deadline for observations on the Reconstruction Plan (PdRi) with the deadline for the Regional Landscape Plan (PPR) – Area 20, recently presented by the Region.
This strategy suggests an attempt to optimize the reconstruction process and the environment at the same time.
An order issued by the Extraordinary Commissioner for the Reconstruction of Ischia, Legnini, confirms that the PdRi also has a landscape value, as established by art.24 bis of the legislative decree 109/2018.
With the ruling on the extension, the Commissioner established that this will be the last temporal modification, clarifying that, until the final approval of the Reconstruction Plan, the current regulatory system will continue to regulate private reconstruction on the island.
In a context where deadlines and the already frequent extensions seem to dictate the law, Ischia is preparing to take a new direction, with an ever-watchful eye on the maintenance of its landscape and the safety of its inhabitants.

It's strange how the extension took people in Ischia by surprise, I don't understand why it wasn't communicated before. I hope this new deadline can lead to something positive for reconstruction and safety.
