Napoli- A violent brawl broke out this morning at the entrance to the Emergency Room of the Ospedale del Mare, involving private ambulance operators under the dismayed eyes of patients and healthcare personnel.
Article Key Points
The chaotic images – still to be clarified in detail – show an escalation of aggression, with pushing, punching and shouting, while a security guard who intervened to calm things down was involved, also suffering some injuries.
The complaint of the deputy Borrelli: "Environment to be reclaimed"
The one who collected the indignation of the citizens present was the Avs deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who launched a harsh attack on the private ambulance system: “We have long been denouncing the decline of this sector, too often in the hands of crime”, he has declared.
"We are talking about personnel selected superficially, paid under the table and without checks. This latest episode shows that the situation is now unsustainable: these individuals should no longer have access to public facilities. They do not represent our health system".
Yet another case of violence in the Emergency Room
Today's episode is not an isolated one: increasingly, tensions between private ambulance operators result in attacks, putting the safety of doctors, nurses and patients at risk. Politics is now calling for urgent interventions: increased controls, revocation of licenses and a crackdown on tenders, to avoid illicit infiltration.
Meanwhile, at the hospital they are trying to restore normality, while investigations have already begun to reconstruct the dynamics and identify those responsible.
