It was a weekend of pure creative chaos for the students and teachers of the Caserta High School, who literally stole the show at two festivals dedicated to the scholastic world, leaving everyone speechless with their mix of drama and innovation.
From prestigious awards to breathtaking performances, these kids have transformed literary classics into hall-shaking events, proving that school can be anything but boring.
Critics' Award for “After Juliet”
The show “After Juliet”, a boldly modern sequel to Shakespeare’s tragedy Romeo and Juliet, won the critics’ award at the 25th edition of Pulcinellamente, the national school theatre festival. With wild choreography and a style that made young spectators jump on their seats, the adaptation curated by the teachers involved and by Ilaria Delli Paoli overturned the rules of traditional theatre, bringing home a triumph that left the stage of the Teatro Lendi in delirium.
The Short Film “Antigone” Booms at Festivals
Meanwhile, the short film “Antigone” – made by students as part of the National Image Education Plan – made its triumphal entrance into two key events: the cinema section of Pulcinellamente and the fifth edition of the Balóss Milan Junior Film Festival. This gangster-style reinterpretation of Sophocles’ tragedy highlighted values of justice and female power with a criminal touch that made ancient Greece look like a film noir set, leaving the audience at the Cineteca Milano Mic and the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia breathless.
Teamwork has been the real driving force behind these successes, as highlighted by the manager: “English: Both in the theater and in the making of the short film, different souls of our high school had the opportunity to compare and grow together, in a path of commitment and responsibility, which was important because it allowed girls and boys of different ages and coming from both the classical high school sections, the classical high school of communication, and also the scientific high school, to work in teams bringing out sensitivity, emotions, abilities, which in the traditional school path perhaps would have remained under the radar. The awards are certainly a notable encouragement for the girls and boys who tried their hand both as actresses and actors, but also as dancers as well as musicians and sound and lighting technicians both live and in front of the camera, even if the highest pedagogical value of these projects lies in the mutual trust that is acquired during the meetings and in the possibility of teaming up with the reference teachers and experts in the sector, thus acquiring new skills in a climate of great serenity and availability.. This collaborative spirit has transformed ordinary students into improvised stars, proving that, with a little creative rebellion, even classrooms can become nightmare stages.
