Castel Volturno – The Carabinieri of the Forestry Nucleus of Castel Volturno, in collaboration with the local police station and the personnel of the Campania Safe Roads Group of the Italian Army, have seized an area of approximately 100 square meters used as an uncontrolled storage area for special waste, both hazardous and non-hazardous, in a commercial building along the Via Domitiana.
The operation, coordinated by the Carabinieri Territorial Department of Mondragone, is part of a territorial control activity aimed at combating illegal waste dumping.
During the inspection, the military found waste materials, including waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), construction aggregates and other residues, piled up in the yard outside the premises, where renovation work was underway.
The owner of the commercial business, who in the past dealt with the installation of plumbing, heating and air conditioning systems, did not provide any documentation certifying the correct management of waste, thus configuring the crime of uncontrolled storage.
The area and the waste were placed under judicial criminal seizure, while the owner was reported at liberty for illegal management of special waste. The intervention confirms the commitment of the police forces in combating environmental crimes in an area often tormented by problems related to illegal disposal.
