The race for the 2024 Nastri d'Argento is heating up with three exceptional protagonists: Mario Martone, Paolo Sorrentino and Francesca Comencini, who lead the nominations with ten nominations each. Their films, respectively *Fuori*, *Parthenope* and *Il tempo che ci vuole*, are the most nominated in this 79th edition of the award assigned by the National Union of Italian Film Journalists (SNGCI).

“Diamanti” by Ferzan Ozpetek is the Film of the Year
The SNGCI Board of Directors has already awarded one of the most prestigious prizes: the Ribbon of the Year goes to Diamanti by Ferzan Ozpetek. The award will be presented on Monday 16 June in Rome, during the final evening of the event. The film, awarded for its strong artistic impact and international resonance, was made with a high-level female cast and the contribution of a creative team recognized for the originality and quality of the production.
The most nominated films: between festivals and Italian theaters
Alongside the three main titles, Gabriele Mainetti's La città proibita stands out with seven nominations, as do other films such as Berlinguer – La grande ambizione, Follemente and Familia, which each receive five nominations. In total, there are 42 finalist films competing for the Nastri.
A Wider Selection for Best Film
This year, in a particularly rich edition, the traditional five for Best Film has been expanded to nine titles. In addition to the three most nominated films, Berlinguer – La grande ambizione by Andrea Segre, Le assaggiatrici by Silvio Soldini, Napoli – New York by Gabriele Salvatores and *Vermiglio by Maura Delpero are also competing. The award will also be given to the Italian producers of the winning film.
Seven nominees for Best Director and Best Debut
The categories of Best Director and Best Debut also see an exceptional expansion to seven titles, a testament to the quality of Italian film production in the last year. Among the directors competing for the directorship are established names such as Pupi Avati (L'orto americano), Gabriele Mainetti, and Paolo Sorrentino, but also new voices such as Maura Delpero and Francesco Costabile.
