three people were arrested by the State Police in Castellammare di Stabia, in the Naples area, as part of an investigation coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Naples, with the public prosecutor Giuseppe Cimmarotta.
The recipients of the precautionary measures - two men and a woman - are accused, to varying degrees, of extortion, illegal possession and carrying of a firearm, private violence, drug dealing, receiving stolen goods and illicit access to telephone devices by inmates. All crimes aggravated by the mafia method, due to the alleged link with the D'Alessandro clan, hegemonic over the Stabia territory.
Among those arrested was Francesco Paolo Savarese, already in prison, who continued to direct the criminal activities of the group from inside the prison, giving orders via a cell phone.
Savarese is the husband of Mirian Teresa D'Alessandro, daughter of the boss Luigi D'Alessandro, currently detained under the 41-bis regime. The precautionary measure was also triggered for the woman. The third arrested is Giovanni Cacace, who has already ended up in prison recently for similar crimes.
Among the episodes at the centre of the investigations, the extortion threats addressed to an illegal manager of a lido on a free beach stand out, to whom the criminal group allegedly forced the payment of a bribe for the irregular rental of deckchairs and sunbeds.
Gunshots also fired at a tobacconist's
Furthermore, investigators reconstructed the firing of gunshots against a tobacconist's as a form of intimidation, and acts of violence against a local shopkeeper.
The investigation also documented several episodes related to drug trafficking and the control of drug dealing areas, entrusted to individuals who paid the extortionate “contribution” to the clan. An investigation that confirms, according to investigators, the persistent mafia roots of the D'Alessandro clan in the economic and social fabric of Castellammare di Stabia.
