Kevin De Bruyne has not yet signed a contract with Napoli, but he has already earned a special place in the heart of the city and, above all, in the nativity scene. Yes, because the artist from San Gregorio Armeno, Genny Di Virgilio, has created a figurine of the Belgian playmaker, including him in his collection among the icons of the Scudetto and the faces most loved by the fans.
The terracotta figurine depicts the former Manchester City star already wearing the blue shirt, ready to join the group of "Italian champions" who have populated the shelves and stalls of the famous Via dei Pastori for years. “He has already taken his place in the team”, Di Virgilio explains to ANSA, “but without a number. The 17 he wore in England is better avoided here. In Naples, certain symbols are untouchable”.
A clear reference to the number that belonged to Marek Hamsik, the blue flag, still untouchable for many. Yet, symbolism aside, the presence of De Bruyne in terracotta is much more than an artistic gesture: it is yet another demonstration that Naples lives for football with visceral passion, transforming every wait into a celebration. The Belgian, meanwhile, has completed his medical visits in Rome and is preparing to sign with Naples.
