Uthey were video calls from prison to threaten a merchant and force him to pay the "pizzo": two people were arrested on this charge by the Carabinieri of the Boscoreale station, in the Naples area, at the end of an investigation coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Napoli.
The crimes contested are attempted extortion aggravated by the mafia method and unauthorized access to communication devices by prisoners. According to investigators, one of the two arrested, despite being in prison, managed to get in touch with the victim via video call, to intimidate her and force her to pay sums of money, necessary - according to the criminals - to "authorize" the continuation of the commercial activity.
The victim is a shopkeeper from the Vesuvian area, who found himself under pressure from the suspects, who allegedly acted in concert to extort money in a context attributable to organized crime.
The Carabinieri investigations allowed them to reconstruct the entire extortion scheme, documenting the threats and the illicit use of technological devices inside the penitentiary institution.
