Naples – Moments of high tension in the early afternoon at Mappatella Beach, on the Naples seafront, where MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli (Green-Sinister Alliance) was verbally attacked and threatened by a man already known to the police.
The timely intervention of the escort and the Carabinieri prevented the situation from degenerating into physical violence.
Borrelli was on site for an inspection with Gianluigi Grittano, a member of the civic movement “Una Nuova Napoli”, when an individual approached him in an aggressive manner, uttering serious insults even against the parliamentarian's mother and going as far as to threaten to kill him.
The man, originally from the Sanità district, is the same one who months ago ended up at the center of controversy for a viral video in which he was riding through the city center illegally wearing a police uniform.
The rapid intervention of the escort agents prevented the attack from escalating into acts of violence. The police also intervened on siteCarabinieri, who identified and removed two people involved in the episode, including the main aggressor, who was later reported.
“For days, my family and I have been the target of targeted and premeditated attacks”, Borrelli declared immediately after the incident.
“This is a carefully planned criminal strategy, carried out by a well-organized group of sons of Camorristi, criminals, TikTokers, pseudo-repentants and white-collar criminals, who aim to hit those who defend legality and fight widespread illegality.
They are using the method of inciting hatred and aggression to intimidate those, like me, who fight against illegal moorings, illegal occupations of public housing and opaque assignments.”
The MP filed a formal complaint and announced that he will not back down one step: "I thank the escort officers for their coolness and the many citizens who expressed solidarity with me. Good Naples is tired of these abuses: I will continue to fight with determination."
The gesture immediately sparked condemnation from politicians and citizens, who expressed solidarity with Borrelli on social media and with direct messages. The episode turns the spotlight back on the security emergency and the increase in threats and intimidation against institutional figures involved in combating urban crime.
