A gesture of courage and lucidity thwarted an attempted car theft and led to the arrest of three criminals. It happened in Pollena Trocchia, where a 27-year-old woman, passing by on Corso Garibaldi, noticed something strange: two men were fiddling around a parked Lancia Y, while a third was waiting nearby in a Nissan Juke with the engine running.
Without hesitation, the young woman called the police, remaining in constant contact with the soldier on duty and following the suspects from a distance. She described every detail, reported every movement, becoming a watchful and tireless eye that allowed the police to act promptly.
The operation ended shortly after 21pm, at Sant'Anastasia, where patrols sent on the basis of the information received intercepted and blocked the three men. Burglary tools were found on board the vehicle used for the robbery, while the stolen car showed clear signs of forced entry.
The three arrested - Neapolitans aged 24, 23 and 18, all with previous convictions for similar crimes - are now at the disposal of the judicial authorities. The car was returned to its rightful owner, but the real strong signal came from an ordinary citizen who demonstrated how a simple phone call, when supported by courage and lucidity, can make a difference in the daily fight against crime.
