The joy of winning the Champions League almost turned into a nightmare for Fabian Ruiz. The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder was still celebrating his European triumph against Inter when two thieves broke into his home in western Paris.
As reported by Le Parisien, the criminals - both minors - managed to break down the front door and enter the footballer's house, turning everything upside down in search of valuables. But their incursion was short-lived: the police, warned in time, intervened, blocking the two just as they were still inside the house.
The attempted theft was thus foiled before the thieves could take anything away. It is not clear whether Fabian Ruiz or his family members were present at the time of the intrusion, but the episode has nevertheless rekindled the alarm for the safety of PSG players, who have already ended up in the crosshairs several times. The last case in March, when Willian Pacho's house was burgled during a match with the national team, and even before that the attack on Marquinhos' father. For Fabian, this time, it went well: no damage, except the fright.
