A quiet day of play turned into a drama in Rome, where five children were poisoned while bathing in a private pool in the Borghesiana area. The episode occurred on Monday afternoon in via Capanna Murata.
According to initial reports, the children inhaled an excessive amount of chlorine, a chemical element used to disinfect water, but which in high concentrations can cause toxic effects. The most serious situation concerns a 9-year-old child, currently hospitalized in intensive care. The other four were rescued and transported to various hospitals in the capital: two were discharged after checks, while the other two were held for observation at Umberto I.
The alarm was raised by the parents, worried about their children's symptoms, who went directly to the emergency room and from there alerted the police. The officers, who intervened shortly after, opened an investigation to shed light on any negligence in the management of the plant. The Public Prosecutor's Office has been informed and is now awaiting the outcome of the environmental surveys to understand what really happened.
