San Gregorio Matese – An operation by the Carabinieri Forestale led to the seizure of an illegal building under construction in the “Difesa” area of San Gregorio Matese, within the newly created Matese National Park.
The military of the Forestry Unit, with the support of the Head of the Technical Office of the Municipality, have ascertained the presence of a structure composed of two containers placed side by side, covered with wooden slats and anchored on concrete blocks, built without any building permit.
The intervention revealed serious violations: the area, subject to strict landscape and environmental constraints, falls within the Landscape Territorial Plan "Ambito Massiccio del Matese” and in the “Matese-Casertano” Special Conservation Area of the Natura 2000 Network.
The construction, without authorization, represents a threat to the protected ecosystem and a disfigurement of the landscape, in addition to configuring urban planning, building and seismic crimes.
I Carabinieri They immediately placed the property under preventive seizure and reported the owner of the land at liberty, accused of violations of urban planning and building regulations, damage to a protected area, defacement of the landscape and deterioration of a site of community interest.
The operation underlines the commitment of the police forces in protecting the environmental heritage of the Matese National Park, an area of extraordinary naturalistic value, and sends a clear signal against illegal building in sensitive areas. Investigations are continuing to ascertain further responsibilities.
