MMilan – A historic turning point in the management of Milan's stadiums. Inter and AC Milan have rejected requests to renew hundreds of season tickets for fans of their respective stadiums, classified as "undesirable" in accordance with the two clubs' ethical codes.
The decision, reported by Corriere della Sera, follows the findings of the "Doppia Curva" investigation, which dismantled a criminal network rooted in the ultras environment.
The list of "not allowed"
Fans excluded from access to the Meazza include:
Individuals already subject to a Daspo (ban from accessing stadiums)
Fans reported or fined for violent behavior
Names emerged in the investigation by the Milan DDA, which led to sentences of up to 10 years for crimes that included two murders
The legacy of the "Doppia Curva" investigation
The operation led by prosecutor Paolo Storari had revealed a year ago:
Criminal activity in the Inter and Milan stadiums
An organized system with ties to crime
Exemplary sentences of up to 10 years in prison
"The goal was to prevent the resurgence of this system," investigative sources explain. Hence the clubs' decision to remove the Curva Nord and Curva Sud logos and now to deny access to fans deemed dangerous.
The new rules at the Meazza
In addition to the exclusions, other stringent measures have been introduced:
Ban on the transfer of season tickets for the second tier sectors (green for Inter, blue-red for Milan)
Strengthened controls on tickets and season tickets
Facial recognition cameras at the turnstiles will be operational starting next season after approval from the Italian Data Protection Authority.
A list destined to grow
According to Corriere, the list of those excluded is expected to expand in the coming weeks. The companies have access to additional names thanks to collaboration with law enforcement.
The fans' reaction
While clubs defend the move as necessary to "clean up" the football environment, some segments of the fan base may protest. It remains to be seen whether this crackdown—the most severe in recent years—will truly change the ultra culture at the Meazza.
