Sessa Aurunca – A tragedy has shocked the community of Sessa Aurunca, in the Caserta area, where Domenico Andreoli, 90 years old, lost his life in a desperate attempt to put out a fire that broke out on his land.
The man, resident in Roma with his children but tied to his homeland, he was overwhelmed by the flames while trying to put out the blaze that had engulfed brushwood and chestnut trees on his private property.
The firefighters, who intervened to contain the fire, made the tragic discovery: Andreoli's lifeless body was lying in the charred grass. The Carabinieri also arrived on site and began investigations to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the events. The most accredited hypothesis is that the elderly man, in an attempt to protect his land, was overwhelmed by the flames.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death. Andreoli, married and known for his attachment to the land, often returned to Sessa Aurunca to tend his plots. The tragedy has left family and community shocked, awaiting clarification on what happened.
