yellow alert Campania
Naples – An anxious afternoon due to the weather in Campania. The Campania Region's Civil Protection Department has issued a "Yellow" level weather alert, valid from 13:00 PM until 21:00 PM today, Friday, August 7, throughout the region.
According to the Functional Center's assessments, the day will be characterized by high levels of instability. Isolated but potentially intense thunderstorms and showers are expected, characterized by rapid development and a degree of uncertainty regarding their precise location. In addition to precipitation, hail, strong wind gusts, and electrical discharges are possible, with a real risk of falling branches and trees and damage to temporary or exposed structures.
Maximum attention is also paid to hydrogeological risks. Experts warn of the risk of rising water levels in smaller rivers, with possible flooding, inundation of basements and ground floors, and sewer backflow in low-lying urban areas. In the most morphologically fragile areas, there is also a risk of falling rocks and isolated landslides.
The Civil Protection has already urged all Municipalities and competent authorities to activate the prevention measures and protocols provided for in their respective emergency plans, in order to protect the territory and the population.
