Accident on the Jonio-Tirreno highway kills a father and his 14- and 8-year-old daughters.

Rosarno – A father and his daughters, aged 14 and 8, have died, while the mother is in serious condition: a tragic road accident occurred this morning on the Jonio-Tirreno state road in the province of Reggio Calabria.

The violent impact occurred in the direction of Rosarno, when, for reasons currently being investigated, a Peugeot collided violently with a heavy vehicle near the Melicucco exit.

Three members of the same family died instantly: 53-year-old father Vincenzo Loccisano and his two daughters, Maria Sopfie and Grace Fatima, aged 14 and 8. They were traveling together in the same car when, for reasons still under investigation, the car collided head-on with a heavy vehicle at kilometer marker 3,200.

The mother, MF, was pulled alive from the wreckage by rescuers and rushed to Polistena Hospital in critical condition.

Due to the accident, the highway was temporarily closed to traffic, with traffic diverted. Anas (National Highway Safety Agency) teams and law enforcement responded to the scene, carrying out the necessary operations to restore traffic flow as quickly as possible.
