A petition on Change.org has surpassed 500 signatures, calling for an official investigation into the fire in the Airola industrial area and for the Sannio and Caudina Valley to be recognized as high-risk areas.

Fire in Airola: Petition for a parliamentary inquiry and recognition of the area as an environmental risk area.
Just days after the fire that devastated the Pip industrial area in Airola, protests are growing for official clarification on the causes and consequences of the blaze.
On August 31, a fire broke out in the warehouses of a local waste storage and disposal company, burning for nearly 100 hours with one million cubic meters of flammable material. The dense smoke affected not only the Montesarchio-Benevento area, but also the Caserta area, raising environmental and health concerns.
In response, a petition titled “Airola Case: We're All Burning!” was started on Change.org, promoted by Teresa Meccariello, a lawyer from the Benevento court.
The request is addressed to the Presidencies of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, the Parliamentary Commission on Ecomafias, and the Campania Region, to open a parliamentary inquiry and declare the Sannio and Caudina Valley areas of high environmental risk. In less than two days, the petition has garnered over 500 signatures.
The petition's text highlights how this fire represents the third serious incident in 19 years in the same area, following those of 2007 and 2021. According to the petition's authors, this indicates a failure of regional policies and the adopted environmental management model. The petition aims to go beyond mere official announcements, calling for concrete and lasting action to protect the territory and the health of citizens.
