Pomigliano, special waste dumped from a car: two reported

Pomigliano – Two men have been reported for dumping hazardous waste by the Pomigliano d'Arco Municipal Police. DSG, 37, and FC, 27, were identified thanks to video surveillance footage and camera traps in the area.

According to the Command's reconstruction, it all began on the evening of August 14, 2026, when some cameras captured a car stopping at the intersection of Via Masseria Chiavettieri and Via San Giusto. Two individuals quickly exited the vehicle, opened the hood, and dumped a significant amount of material on the side of the road. They then immediately drove off, returning back down the same road they had come from.

A patrol arrived shortly thereafter and determined the nature of the abandoned material: hazardous waste from electrical work, including cables, protective sheaths, and plastic boxes. The area was immediately cordoned off for safety reasons, and an investigation began to identify the perpetrators.

By cross-referencing the camera footage with data from the monitoring network, officers were able to clearly read the license plate of the car used. The vehicle's owner was summoned to the station, and subsequent checks led to the identification of the two defendants as the actual users of the vehicle and the perpetrators of the spill.

"Illegal dumping is an intolerable practice that must be condemned in the strongest terms," ​​the Municipal Police Command emphasized. "Not only does it seriously pollute our environment, but it also entails significant costs for the entire community, as removal, cleanup, and disposal operations directly impact citizens' budgets and pockets."

The Command reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against environmental crimes and the dumping of hazardous waste. Local inspections and camera trap monitoring will continue uninterrupted at sensitive locations and on the city's outskirts, with the aim of preventing and combating all forms of environmental degradation and crime.
