Oplonti opens its doors to the allure of the night: history, theater, and scents at Villa Poppea.

Torre Annunziata – The majestic Villa of Poppaea is preparing to welcome visitors in a whole new light. As part of the promotion program promoted by the Pompeii Archaeological Park, the Archeoclub d'Italia (Mario Prosperi branch in Torre Annunziata) is launching a series of free evening walks—also available in English—to rediscover the wonders of the archaeological site. The ArevOd Network of Diffused Hospitality Associations will welcome the public, with staggered departures from 19:30 PM to 21:30 PM.

The initiative unfolds along three main thematic events:

Friday, September 11 – Nero's Wives: Octavia and Poppea Compared: The Oplontino Historical Group will stage a historical reenactment focusing on the two iconic female figures linked to the Roman emperor, intertwining narrative and period reconstruction.

Friday, September 18 – Masks and Theatre: An immersion in ancient drama with the performance of some scenes from Plautus's Aulularia, enriched by the extraordinary participation of actors Giovanni Caso, Antonio Annunziata, and Leopoldo Speranza.

Friday, October 9 – Glassmaking: Ointments and Perfumes: The closing tour will lead visitors through the villa's refined paintings and marble sculptures, revealing the secrets of ancient glassmaking and the art of Roman olive oil and cosmetics.

As emphasized by Mirella Azzurro, President of the Torre Annunziata Archeoclub, the event represents a unique opportunity to combine scientific dissemination with the evocative power of live performance, returning a priceless monumental heritage to the community.
