Chiaiano: Man arrested for assaulting ex-partner and attempting to run him over with car
Naples – Tense moments erupted in the northern outskirts of the city, where a 57-year-old man with a criminal record was arrested following a swift intervention by State Police officers. He faces extremely serious charges: attempted murder, aggravated assault, threats, stalking, and resisting arrest.
It all started yesterday evening in the Chiaiano neighborhood. Officers from the local police station, busy with their usual patrols, were attracted by loud screams coming from Corso Chiaiano.
Moments later, a couple rushed to the patrol car seeking help. The man and woman reported having just been brutally attacked by her ex-partner. According to reports, the 57-year-old man first physically confronted the woman's new partner—in an escalation of harassment that, according to preliminary information, had been ongoing for some time—before moving on to an even more dangerous act: attempting to run him over with his car.
As the victims were explaining their experiences to the officers, the situation escalated further. The 57-year-old man arrived on the scene, ignoring the presence of law enforcement, continuing to swear at the couple and even making explicit death threats.
The police promptly intervened to neutralize the threat: the man resisted, but was immobilized and arrested after a struggle, averting far more serious consequences for the safety of the two unfortunate victims.
