The project includes a widening of the roadway in the section between Corso Malta and via Pianell, the elimination of the sidewalk adjacent to the military barracks and the removal of the street lighting poles that will be replaced with new LED lamps, mounted directly on the external wall of the barracks, the creation of a protected pedestrian path delimited by poles and a new road surface in sound-absorbing asphalt. The widening of the roadway, in accordance with the requirements imposed by the Highway Code, will make it possible in the future to establish two-way traffic in the section Corso Malta – via Pianell, helping to resolve a serious traffic problem reported for years by citizens. The remaining part of the roadway of via della Piazzolla al Trivio, in the section via Pianell – via Arenaccia, will instead be completely resurfaced by Open Fiber, with asphalt of the same characteristics and quality as that which will be used for the first section. The establishment of two-way traffic on Via della Piazzolla will in fact contribute to easing traffic also at the intersection of Corso Malta with Via Nuova Poggioreale, since today many motorists coming from the Arenaccia area are forced to take tortuous detours to reach the Corso Malta area, ending up congesting the surrounding roads.
"As happened for the Cupa Principe project that started ten days ago, -continues Perrella- also for via della Piazzolla al Trivio in these first two years of work, in administrative continuity with the previous council that decided on the works, we have worked to ensure that the start of the project was not compromised by technical and bureaucratic delays. Delays that risked, also in this case, causing the loss of the funding, which two years ago had been included in the restricted surplus. Thanks to the commitment of this Municipality, of the Technical Activities Service and of the municipal administration, last October with a budget variation the approximately 80.000 euros needed to refinance and send the project of via della Piazzolla al Trivio were thus recovered. The process then concluded with the awarding of the works in a short time last December".
"The recovery of a territory like ours, neglected for too many years, - concludes Perrella - inevitably passes through works and construction sites that perhaps in the immediate future may cause some discomfort, but that in a few months will give us more liveable and decorous areas. This is what we have been trying to do for the last two years between works unlocked and delivered and new redevelopment works approved".
