Naples. “It is clear that infections are rising and it is likely, if they continue to rise, that we will return, I hope for a limited period, to a red zone”.
The mayor of Naples, Luigi de Magistris, said this on Radio Crc while analyzing the progress of the Covid epidemic in Naples and Campania. “If there is a question of a health peak, of a third wave, then either the State or the Region must intervene to close schools. If this has not happened, it is evidently because the Ministry of Health and the Regions involved believe they should not intervene and bounce back to the territory recommending intervention if there are particular situations. It is clear that infections are rising and it is likely, if they continue to rise, that we will return, I hope for a limited period, to a red zone,” explained de magistris. And then he added: “We as a Municipality, with daily monitoring, are verifying whether particular situations are created in our city that, despite the non-intervention of the State and the Region, require targeted measures. So far, monitoring has not produced situations that would require intervention against a school.”
De Magistris then recalled that "we still do not have detailed health monitoring, but we have now given up on it. After a year we do not participate in the Crisis Unit, we do not have detailed data on the territory, we have to acquire them in our own way, more artisanal, with the collaboration of the Universities and school communities. This is another element that after a year makes us say how schizophrenic, dystonic and contradictory the management of the health pandemic between the State and the Regions has been".
