Checks in Salerno and the province by law enforcement for the prevention and fight against the spread of Covid-19.
The checks carried out in recent days have found the contestation of numerous sanctions against many people who, despite the red zone, have behaved in violation of the regulations. In order to fully implement the ordinance prepared by the police commissioner of Salerno in agreement with the provincial commanders of the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza, the municipal and local police, the provincial police and the Italian army were involved in the field. The checks involved 7.714 people, 4.488 vehicles and 2.431 public establishments, with fines for 245 people for failure to wear a mask or for being caught outside the municipality of residence without a justified reason, 2 people fined for leaving their home despite being under quarantine, 27 establishments fined for failure to comply with anti-Covid regulations and 4 businesses or establishments closed.
In particular, this weekend in Salerno, the managers of 6 neighborhood businesses (three in the historic center, two in via Trento and another in the Torrione area) were fined because they continued their self-service food and beverage distribution business beyond the established hours, in violation of the mayoral ordinance that provides for closing at 18 pm.

In addition, some of them were also charged with violations for failure to display information signs related to the Covid emergency and sanitizing products. In Pontecagnano, the manager of a well-known restaurant was fined for unauthorized consumption, with the additional sanction of closure. In Battipaglia, a recreational club was fined, with simultaneous closure, because it allowed the consumption of food to some customers, gathered inside, who were also fined, and among other things without personal protective equipment.
