Genoa. She killed her son by following tutorials on the internet: new charges for the woman who last year confessed to killing her mother.
The mystery of the death of the three-year-old child on November 22, 2019, which was initially passed off as a cardiac arrest, is clarified. Instead, it seems that the mother, Giulia Stanganini, 38, suffocated him after doing a series of searches on the internet to make the death appear accidental.
Investigators from the Genoa Flying Squad this morning executed a custody order against the woman, who has been in prison since last April.
Last year, in fact, in the midst of lockdown, she showed up at the police station confessing to having chopped up and dismembered the body of her mother, Loredana Stupazzoni, a 63-year-old retired janitor. She told investigators that she had found her mother hanged and that she had decided to get rid of the body after two days to avoid being accused of killing her. Investigating that macabre discovery, public prosecutors Sabrina Monteverde and Stefano Puppo discovered that the woman had killed the little boy five months earlier. A premeditated murder as confirmed by internet searches that Stanganini had done a month before Adam's death. "How to kill a child", "mothers who kill children", "asphyxiation", "scarf game". And then a message sent to her ex-partner, the child's father, 12 days before his death: "Happy New Year to you and the others and Merry Christmas. You'll see little Adam soon" she had written in the text message. From the investigations, corroborated by numerous testimonies, Giulia was not fit to be a mother, she was still very immature. She made the baby sleep tied up in the stroller "because she couldn't stand him moving around in the bed with her", she only fed him baby food because she didn't know how to cook. And, above all, when he cried she started screaming, breaking objects, insulting the baby, swearing. The day Adam died, Stanganini didn't shed a tear, witnesses told investigators. But from that day on, the already tense relationship with her mother became increasingly frayed. The baby's grandmother called her a murderer. The two women had always had a conflictual relationship, over money. They argued often and on several occasions the daughter had hit her mother and threatened her. Stanganini, in prison after confessing to the destruction of her mother's body, confessed to a cellmate that she had put a pillow on the baby's face because he was crying too hard. And this morning came the arrest on a shocking charge.
The 38-year-old's confession to killing her mother, however, does not entirely convince the investigators. For the investigating judge, the death of the former caretaker could be compatible with suicide. In the meantime, while the investigations clarify the episode confessed by the woman, the charge of infanticide has also been added.
