Naples. An inmate attacked in Secondigliano and 4 smartphones seized by the Penitentiary Police, all in one day.
A violently assaulted prisoner and a seizure of cell phones are reported by the Autonomous Union of Penitentiary Police (He knows) in prison Secondigliano, in Naples.
On Wednesday, prison officers seized four smartphones, which had been hidden under the tiles of the barber shop and outside the Department S3, where organized crime prisoners are held. On Thursday, a prisoner from Naples was attacked by other inmates of the department S1.
The man was transferred to Cardarelli hospital for the injuries he sustained. “Only timely interventions – says the secretary of the Sappe, Emilio Fattorello – prevented even more serious consequences.”
“Critical events, including assaults, are now occurring on a daily basis in the prisons of Campania – adds the Sappe – the Secondigliano Penitentiary Center suffers from a huge staff shortage that amounts to about 180 units in the various roles of the Penitentiary Police. This is also due to the effect of the numerous assignments of personnel to other extramural services, compared to about 1200 inmates, of which 900 belong to the High Security circuit”.
