“It is not the sanctions that scare us, but the impossibility of carrying out Green Pass checks without further indications”.
The president of the National Association of Principals, Antonello Giannelli, continues to complain about a lack of listening by the government on some points. This is why the relationship has deteriorated, to the point of pushing the trade union of school principals not to sign the safety protocol on reopening in September.
An agreement reached late at night between the Ministry of Education and some unions, not all. The main issue, for the principals, was the reimbursement of swabs for unvaccinated staff. There will be, for the agreement, which however does not specify in black and white that only the fragile, workers who cannot be vaccinated for clinical reasons, will be reimbursed.
The Spanish Minister Patricio Bianchi he then verbally clarified that there will be no refund for the 'No-Vax' staff, words that were not followed up in the document. Those who decide not to get immunized and do not present a negative result from a anti Covid swab will be able to be absent without just cause for a maximum of five days before being suspended without pay, sine die. As for immunized personnel, the latest available data puts it at 85%, with strong differences between Regions however.
Around 200 thousand people are missing, but the Regions will send the updated data to the commissioner Francesco Paolo Figliuolo. Now another problem is the control of the Green Pass by the ATA staff which, the principals reiterate, is not sufficient.
“At the moment, daily checks are planned on all employees, as if the school were a restaurant”, Giannelli laments. Remember that there are institutes that have up to ten locations: "We should put controls in all the offices and at all hours. We had asked to have an extra secretary, but that's fine with online access to the databases, otherwise it's not possible."
Distance learning is out of the question. But there will be cases of positive students and we will need to figure out how and whether to arrange quarantine for the entire class. At the moment, the quarantine required for vaccinated students is 7 days, 10 for unvaccinated students.
