Three people were injured in the province of Salerno after New Year's Eve fireworks exploded.
Fear for a 21-month-old boy injured by a Christmas star in San Marzano sul Sarno.
The most serious accident involved a 48-year-old from Carbonara di Nola, in the province of Naples, who lost his right eye. Having arrived at the hospital in Sarno, he was then transferred to the hospital in Nocera where he underwent surgery.
Also at the Sarno hospital, a 21-year-old local man was treated, who suffered burns caused by the explosion of a firecracker and was deemed curable in 10 days, and a 21-month-old child from San Marzano sul Sarno, treated for burns to his hand: he suffered a slight burn to the finger of one hand caused by a sparkling Christmas star.

No injuries were reported in the city of Salerno, where damage was reported from the explosion of firecrackers, in particular to parked cars and a tent on a balcony.
