How the nuclear simulator works
Il simulator Nukemap is a project developed in 2012 by science historian and nuclear weapons expert Alex Wellerstein of the Stevens Institute of Technology. The application allows you to select different types of nuclear weapons: from historical ones like the Hiroshima (of “only” 15 kilotons), to contemporary ones currently present in the US, Russian or North Korean arsenal and even the largest warheads (such as the Soviet “Tsar Bomba” the largest ever tested with a power of 100 megatons).
With over 1 million fake atomic, nuclear and hydrogen detonations, NUKEMAP It is the most reliable online simulator for testing on a map the damage and effects of all the different atomic bombs, with high destructive capacity, developed by man.
NUKEMAP can take into account specific climate or power conditions and include customizable filters such as radioactive fallout, ionizing radiation, thermal radiation or compression force.
By accessing the site, search for a target city on the right or select one from the presets available. From the same sidebar, select one of the existing bombs and customize its settings. All known bombs developed by man are present in the menu. In particular, the site was updated after the latest experiments by North Korea.
NUKEMAP highlights the areas under attack and displays, at the user's discretion, an estimate of the number of deaths and injuries, as well as radioactive fallout. The height of the explosion can be customized for a more accurate simulation. The site also offers a simulator of long-range missiles or ICBMs. An estimate of the number of victims and injuries calculated based on the selected area can also be obtained.
