The Civil Protection of the Campania Region has issued a criticality warning for heat wave weather risk.
Starting from 8 am tomorrow morning, Sunday 26 June, and until 8 am on Wednesday 29 June, in the municipalities of the regional territory classified as moderate and high risk, maximum temperatures are expected that could be higher than average values seasonal temperatures of 7-8°C, associated with a humidity level that, especially in the evening and night hours on the coastal sector, may even exceed 50-60% and in conditions of poor ventilation.
The Regional Operations Room, in consideration of the notice issued by the Functional Centre of Civil Protection, invites the mayors of all the Municipalities and the competent bodies "to implement the procedures of their own relevance relating to the surveillance of the vulnerable sections of the population.
It is recommended not to expose yourself to the sun or do sports during the hottest hours. Particular attention must be paid by heart patients, the elderly, children and subjects at risk", concludes the note from the Campania Regional Civil Protection.
What to do in case of Heat Waves – Self-Protection Measures

- Avoid being outdoors between 12.00:18.00 and XNUMX:XNUMX, these are the hottest hours of the day.
- Take cool baths and showers to reduce your body temperature.
- Shield window glass with shutters, blinds or curtains to prevent the room from overheating.
- Drink plenty of water. Remember that older people need to drink even when they are not thirsty. Even if you are not thirsty, your body may need water!
- Avoid alcoholic beverages, eat light meals, eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Alcohol and heavy meals increase heat production in the body!
- Wear light, comfortable clothing made of natural fibres: clothing made of synthetic fibres prevents perspiration and therefore heat loss.
- Check the health of relatives, neighbors, and friends who live alone and offer help. Remember that many heatwave victims are lonely people.
- Stay in air-conditioned places even for just a few hours to reduce exposure to high temperatures.
