Milan. There are no signs of beatings or injuries: Diana may have died of starvation.
The autopsy on the 18-month-old girl found dead in her crib last week revealed 'no obvious cause of death'. This is what emerged from the autopsy performed this morning at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Milan by Dr. Andrea Gentilomo.
The baby was found lifeless by her mother in the apartment where they lived in via Parea, in the Ponte Lambro area of Milan after the woman had abandoned her for six days with two bottles of milk and 4 of water. This further circumstance that emerged from the autopsy strengthens the theory that Diana died of starvation. To have more certainty, however, it will be necessary to wait for the results of the blood and tissue tests on the baby, performed this morning during the autopsy.
Also in the next few days, tests will be done on the milk found in one of the bottles that the little girl's mother, Alessia Pifferi now in prison, had left next to her daughter in the camping cot before going out to join her partner in Leffe in the province of Bergamo. The liquid was examined by the forensic police and the suspicion is that it contains a dose of tranquilizers.
A bottle of benzodiazepine 'En', in fact, was found at the woman's home, who said that they belonged to an ex-partner, who has not yet been identified.
