The 12nd edition of the Massimo Troisi Award – Observatory on Comedy will kick off on July 16, with the Artistic Direction returning to the expert hands of actor Gino Rivieccio. The event will take place at the Villa Bruno park until Saturday, July 1700, where a XNUMX-seat arena will be set up, and will be an edition packed with national and Campanian guests.
With the claim “Let's try to do the best” this edition is divided between music and comedy and the aim of searching for new comic talents. In this sense, the absolute novelty is the collaboration with the prestigious comedy laboratory ZELIG, famous for the television program but above all for having discovered the best Italian comedians of the last twenty years. The partnership was born from the desire to strengthen, on a national scale, the search for new artistic talents.
The festival includes the participation of numerous established actors and comedians, promising young talents, quality musicians and television personalities known to the general public.
It starts at 21:00 pm on Tuesday 12 July with the first semi-final of the Best Comedian Actor competition.
The evening will end with a concert by Super4, a vocal group made up of Greg Rega, Sabba, Aurelio Fierro Jr. and Francesco Boccia who will pay homage to Italian songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s.
Wednesday 13th July will be the second evening with the Best Comedy Writing and Best Comedy Short competition. Special guest Ezio Greggio who will be in San Giorgio for the first time, the well-known actor and comedian as well as host of the satirical news program Striscia la notizia.
On the third evening of Thursday 14 July, again from 21:00 pm, there will be the second semifinal of the Best Comedian Actor competition. Musical guests are the Ebbanesis duo formed by Viviana Cangiano and Serena Pisa who in a few years have become a true web phenomenon.
The fourth evening scheduled for Friday 15 July at 21:00 pm is with the Milanese comic duo Ale and Franz formed in 1995 and came to prominence in the 2000s with their participation in the television program Zelig; since then they have taken part in various successful TV shows, as well as acting in films and theater shows. Before their show there will be the competition for the best Theatrical Text, the one for the best Cinematographic Screenplay and for the Serial Writing of Television Fiction.
The event will conclude on Saturday 16 July with a gala evening full of guests.
The final round of the Best Comic Actor competition will begin at 21pm, followed by the awarding of the Lifetime Achievement Prize to the artistic director of Zelig Giancarlo Bozzo.
The “Cremanum d'argento” award, a coveted recognition for talents from San Giorgio a Cremano, will be given to actor Massimo De Matteo. Special guests will be actress Sandra Milo, former muse of Fellini, actress and former partner of Massimo Troisi Nathaly Caldonazzo, musician Gigi Finizio and famous comic impersonator Vincenzo De Lucia.
On this 22nd edition the Mayor of San Giorgio Giorgio Zinno declares: “The Massimo Troisi Award has become an excellence among the events dedicated to new comic talents. Year after year, it has become an increasingly prestigious event and the partnership with the “Zelig” of Milan, the temple of Italian comedy, is proof of this. We have doubled the days dedicated to the semi-finals of the “Best Comic Actor” Competition, as the competition to win the coveted trophy promises to be very lively.
The Award has also managed to establish itself over the years as a cultural and entertainment event centered on a varied artistic-cultural program that will see the participation of protagonists of cinema, theater, music, literature and television. All under the artistic direction of Gino Rivieccio in the magical atmosphere of the Villa Bruno park. Thanks always go to the Campania Region and to President Vincenzo De Luca who also this year has contributed to supporting our Award”.
While the Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Culture Pietro De Martino adds: "We have worked on this 360nd edition of the Troisi Award, always keeping in mind the goal of the event, which is to develop comedy talents: actors, screenwriters, directors and writers. This year too, the spotlight will be on them, without neglecting the presence of artists of national fame. The Award is in fact a journey that lasts over time, not an isolated event but an observatory on comedy at XNUMX degrees that wants to try to guide young people towards a profession, starting from their own passions".
The artistic director Gino Rivieccio will weave the common thread of the last evening, declaring: “I tried, in this third edition under my direction, to create an award that, in addition to being agile, was also young and youthful, all qualities common to Massimo. Consequently, I focused on the originality and vivacity of the boys not only from the point of view of comedy but also of music. Thanks also to the collaboration with Zelig, I selected very interesting young comedians. This is comforting in a phase in which it seems that from the point of view of creativity and imagination, at least in terms of comedy, there is a worrying flattening.”
