A huge investigation has been launched in all the municipalities of the island of Ischia for the landing permits released this year.
The investigation so far involves three people investigated, a Neapolitan couple and an island lawyer, left following police checks on the two Neapolitans.
The story actually arose following an investigation at a checkpoint in the centre of Ischia in which the agents of the State Police station, coordinated by the deputy commissioner Ciro Re, stopped a car with two people on board. It is about two Neapolitans, husband and wife, driving a Fiat Panda that could not disembark and circulate on the island under the decree issued every year to limit the influx of vehicles from Campania to Ischia.
In addition to his personal and car documents, the driver showed the police a permesso, issued by the municipality of Lacco Ameno, which attracts the attention of the officers who, from subsequent checks, ascertain that it is in fact fake. Summoned to the police station, the driver of the Panda justified himself by stating that the permit had been provided to him by a friend from Ischia, a lawyer, as a courtesy, as has already happened in the past.
The lawyer is also later questioned by the police: he denies all charges, but the three are reported to the judicial authorities for complicity in receiving stolen goods and use of a false document. At this point, the island police do not exclude that there may be other permits in circulation counterfeit, which may also have been sold in money exchange.
For this reason, Deputy Commissioner Re has started an investigation of all the permits issued this summer by the six island municipalities. An investigation destined to have sensational consequences and which, if further irregularities were discovered, could also be extended to previous years.
