“Another factory in Campania, which used to produce refrigerators and washing machines, has now become a spare parts center,” the union representative emphasized. “There are about 300 workers waiting to find out what will happen if the multinational were to leave Europe.”
“Campania, the largest production center in Italy, risks losing other businesses and with them its workers,” Auriemma continued. “We are still looking for a solution for the Whirlpool workers in Naples and now another employment hole is opening up. Caserta, in the past, was defined as a land of work, today with all the failed industrializations we run the risk of it becoming a production desert.”
"We will fight with all our strength to prevent this from happening, but - concluded the secretary of Uilm Campania - a political commitment is urgently needed. Even today, workers have received support from politicians, but I believe the time for solidarity is over. We need real and concrete commitments from those who govern us".
