The surveillance activity, aimed at countering the phenomenon of gangmastering and labor exploitation in the manufacturing sector, took place during the week from 6 to 12.2.2023 in the territories of Agro-Aversa and Agro-Atella and in the area of San Felice a Cancello e Santa Maria a Vico.

Of the 11 manufacturing companies inspected, employed in shoemaking, clothing packaging, food product packaging and sorting of used clothing, nine were found not to be in compliance with the regulations on employment relations and social legislation. In particular, in a clothing packaging company, out of 35 workers found 20 were found in black.
During the checks, the employment positions of 129 workers were checked and 5 suspension orders were issued against the same number of companies for the presence of illegal workers.
All workers are being investigated for irregularities in terms of working hours. work and workplace safety, including failure to provide personal protective equipment, training and medical visits.
Furthermore, the positions of 10 workers from non-EU countries were verified. Investigations are still underway to verify possible situations of exploitation pursuant to art. 603 bis of the criminal code.
