A supermarket clerk, followed while riding her bike to work in Cornaredo, in the province of Milan, was attacked and raped in the parking lot.
The alleged perpetrator has now been arrested by the Carabinieri of Milan, who reported the episode today. The facts occurred on January 4, when the young woman, a 28-year-old who works the first shift, the dawn one, went to work by bike around 5 am.
The man, a 35-year-old Ecuadorian, resident in Rho (Milan), according to the accusations, first followed her by car and then waited on foot, in the dark, throwing her to the ground and committing sexual acts. When she managed to free herself, she screamed, asking for help and her colleagues came out to help her, while the man fled.
However, his car was captured on camera and so the Carabinieri of Cornaredo tracked him down on the street in Rho on the following 9th January, while he was driving that same car, without a licence and drunk.
At home they also found a piece of clothing, a white sweatshirt, that the victim remembered. On February 4, the man was arrested on a precautionary custody order issued by the investigating judge of Milan.
