In the Court of Naples North, the youngest in Italy, between January 6 and December 2022, 1.718, 1.287 proceedings were opened for crimes connected to the "red code" but 75 were archived during the investigation phase, or XNUMX%, the highest percentage in Campania.
This type of crime (domestic abuse, sexual violence, stalking and revenge porn) is widespread and hateful, and yet, seeing the outcome of the many episodes that end up before the judicial authorities, the number of files in the seven Campania courts closed without a culprit is very high.
Lower, but still significant, numbers also in the second court in the Caserta area, that of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, where in 2021, out of 583 complaints, 347 were archived (60%), while in 2022, out of 820 complaints, 575 were archived (70%).
As for ordinary trials, in 2021 there were three acquittals and two convictions, in 2022 there were twenty acquittals and nine convictions. At the Court of Naples, from the data for 2022 alone, it is clear that the complaints filed are 50 with 24 referrals to trial and 26 dismissals.
In Salerno, the second court in Campania, from the introduction of the red code in 2019 to today, out of 1438 reports, 892 cases have been archived, or 62%. The data regarding mistreatment in the family stands out above all, with 1133 reports that have led to 739 archived cases; 52 convictions with 12 acquittals.
In line with the Salerno area, there are also the courts of Benevento and Avellino, with a total population of almost 800 thousand inhabitants: from 2019 to today, out of 500 red code reports in the Avellino court, 356 (71%) have been archived, with the worrying data of the small number of reports filed.
In Benevento, on the other hand, out of 1137 complaints, the archiving was 713 (63%). In Torre Annunziata, a court established in 1994, the data is only for 2022 and says that out of 398 complaints examined, the archiving was 264 (66%), 45 acquittals and 47 convictions in the ordinary trial.
