Napoli. In the presence of the Councillor for Urban Planning Laura Lieto, and the Chief of Staff Maria Grazia Falciatore, the Urban Planning Commission, chaired by Massimo Pepe, carried out an inspection of theHotel of the Poor to check the status of the works and to discuss possible uses.
During the inspection, President Pepe underlined, an assessment was made of the future destinations of use, taking into account the available resources, currently 100 million of complementary PNRR funds.
The aim is not to alter the state of the places, allocating a part of the structure to museum exhibitions, another part to training activities and libraries, but also foreseeing mixed areas, whose destination will be decided through constant dialogue with the municipalities and territorial associations.
The method underlying the regeneration process that hinges on the hostel for the poor, explained Councilor Lieto, is incremental. Given the enormous size of the building, the intervention will have to be carried out progressively, step by step, moving in two directions.
On the one hand, establish cultural functions that guarantee the regeneration project an international reputation, on the other, continue the dialogue and listening with the neighborhood community in order to bring into the structure activities and initiatives that respond to the will of the territory.
Given the complementary nature of the funds, explained Cabinet Chief Falciatore, the project will be implemented through ongoing dialogue with the Ministry of Culture and the Superintendencies.
Given the size of the structure, it is essential that the regeneration of the Albergo dei Poveri be an incremental project, so as to offer services to citizens in the areas already accessible as soon as possible, while interventions are carried out in the other areas.
