An early start for the new season of Ami Cetara, with a guest that the fishing village has been fond of since the beginning: next Thursday, March 16, from 20 pm, Guido Catalano will stop at the Torre Vicereale in Cetara, a sentinel location for the town's cultural activities, with his amazing tour around Italy, and beyond.
The writer, poet and performer is one of the most beloved characters, now, not only on the web. His summer podcast Amare male, produced by Chora Media, has seen hilarious success, which has induced the Turin artist to reschedule a new book and the homonymous tour, produced by Via Audio Eventi.
In bookstores from February 28th Smettere di fumo baciando (Rizzoli, 2023), the latest literary effort by Guido Catalano, which marks the author's return to poetry after a whopping six long years. To accompany its release, the Smettere di fumo baciando live tour began last March 8th, which, with sold out pre-sales and new dates announced, will see the rock star of recited love verse perform live in clubs across the peninsula and beyond, with a new show and new stories to fall in love with. We're all in the trenches, but love can save us.
After a short break and a pandemic, Guido Catalano returns to his origins, to the verses that made him famous and made readers laugh and fall in love all over Italy. A self-deprecating, intimate and hilarious collection, suitable for every need: there are poems for breakfast and after a hangover, as lightning-fast as naval battles and stuffed like sandwiches, poems of failed love and possible dreams, poems thrown out the window like pebbles, angry poems and addictive poems. “Are you saying I’m exaggerating?” – asks the poet – “Maybe, but there’s only one way to find out: put out that cigarette, read and kiss each other as much as you can”.

A show for a solo voice in which unpublished poems alternate with old warhorses, where love, declined in a thousand facets, triumphs together with a jumble of other emotions and moods, such as melancholy, hope, amazement, surprise, nostalgia, anxiety, sexual desire, fear, happiness, cats. (Okay, cats are not an emotion but they do attract an audience).
Who doesn't come is crazy. Since 2011, Ami Cetara is the "site specific" project that the cultural association ambientarti has been carrying out in the Municipality of Cetara, also in this special spring preview, working in synergy with the will of the mayor, Fortunato Della Monica and the councilor for Entertainment and Tourism, Daniele Luigi d'Elia to deseasonalize tourist flows with a specific cultural offer of great cultural value, where the territory is an important partner.
With this premise, the festival links the genius loci of the enchanting Cetara, pearl of the Amalfi Coast, with original narratives from the national panorama, combined with the promotion of typical gastronomic products, first of all the anchovies, with the renowned colatura. In fact, to introduce the stage of the tour, there will be a special "Cetara aperitif" that combines anchovies with another significant product of this land, lemons, and in particular those from the Azienda Agricola Di Crescenzo. To complete it all, a taste of the specialties of the Cetara Punto e Pasta restaurant.
But the surprises don't end here, because at the opening of the show, the unreleased performance of the Neapolitan singer-songwriter Guasto, aka Gianmarco Finizio, accompanied on guitar by Maestro Gianmarco Volpe, will lead us by the hand into his ironic and overwhelming Funkyland, a Mediterranean tribute to the thousand lands of funky, a special place where you can dance among lights and colors.
