They would be two Neapolitans the so-called motorcyclists “crime commuters” identified by the State Police as part of an investigation coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Florence on two very distinct robberies occurred between December 2021 and January of last year.
Article Key Points
The investigations into the incidents, the first of which occurred in Florence and the second in the Sienese, have been merged into the same criminal proceeding precisely on the basis of the fact that, according to the investigators, the same hand was behind both episodes. This would be two men aged 43 and 44, both originally from and resident in Napoli. For this reason, a few weeks ago, the Flying Squad of Florence carried out, with the collaboration of that of Napoli, a custodial order against the 43-year-old, while the other had disappeared without a trace.
The first of the facts contested to the defendants by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Florence in the provision signed by him, dates back to 14 December 2021That afternoon, a woman, after getting out of her off-road vehicle parked in the Stadio area of Florence, was approached by two completely masked motorcyclists wearing full-face helmets.
Robberies in Florence and Siena, two Neapolitans arrested
One of the two would have first tried to take her bag but the lady resisted without letting go. At this point the criminal would have literally snatched from her wrist a gold “Chopard” with diamonds whose value is estimated to be around 40.000 €With loot in hand, the two then quickly fled and disappeared without a trace.
The second episode, for which the couple from Campania is still accused, dates back to a few weeks later: 3st January of the 2022 the one who fell into the net of the robbers, who according to the reconstruction always acted on board the same motorbike, was an employee of a spa park in the province of Siena.
This time the unfortunate man was allegedly pushed by one of the two who then broke the window of his car, taking away the bag containing the business's takings, or 24.000 € in cash. The victim, even before the robbery, had noticed something strange around his car. One of the attackers had been caught with a rather suspicious attitude right behind the vehicle and, when the owner of the vehicle had asked him for explanations directly, the robber had taken action.
Robberies in Florence and Siena, the Flying Squad stops two Neapolitans
The car also had a flat tire, a circumstance that has not been proven but which would lead to the hypothesis of a different plan of action at the origin of the robbery: the victim, after having placed the cash on the seat and pressed his foot on the accelerator, would have inevitably been forced to stop, get out and distract himself, after a few meters, to check the wheel.
Most likely, this moment could have coincided, according to a mere investigative hypothesis, with the one chosen by the "cronies" to enter into action, running the least possible risk of possible reactions. In the following months, the Hawks of the Flying Squad of Florence began complex activities, sifting through every single clue and without leaving out even the smallest detail, apparently insignificant, but decisive if seen with expert eyes.
The robbers' modus operandi would not have made the investigations easy at all, but in the end they led the Flying Squad of Florence directly to their homes in Naples and the province where, as anticipated, the 43-year-old was immediately arrested. The other, however, was absent from the roll call and the State Police never stopped looking for him. Following his proven untraceability, at the end of April the Court of Florence even decreed him "absconding".
The intense investigative activities of the Florentine Flying Squad have brought the "Falchi" in recent days to the Prato area where the man, now wanted everywhere by all police forces, had temporarily rested: the doors of prison have thus opened for the 44-year-old. On the basis of the elements collected so far, the GIP, accepting the investigative hypothesis of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Florence, had in fact already ordered prison for both suspects, as a precautionary measure.
