A greenhouse was illegally used as a catering hall, the kitchen areas were in terrible hygienic and sanitary conditions and the food products, 415 kilograms, were stored in completely anonymous bags and wrappers and without suitable labels to allow their traceability.
Seizures and fines were triggered. The military personnel of the Carabinieri Tutela Agroalimentare department of Salerno, together with the Carabinieri of Angri, in the province of Salerno, and the ASL prevention department Uopc of Angri and the veterinary service of Sant'Egidio del Monte Albino carried out checks in a farm in the Agro Nocerino-Sarnese engaged in educational farm activities.
When the military arrived, a school group of about 100 children from the provinces of Naples and Salerno were present, waiting for lunch that was supposed to take place in a greenhouse illegally used as a dining room. After the checks, the food was seized and the catering activity was suspended, thus preventing the children present from consuming food of unknown origin and therefore potentially harmful to their health.
The checks were also extended to the animals present in the company, 8 of which, found to be without the required ear tags and documentation of origin, were seized. The company was fined 8.500 euros.
