Avellino, prisoner attempts to attack psychologist

An Egyptian prisoner attempted to attack, armed with a razor blade, the psychologist on duty in the prison of Avellino. This was reported by the deputy regional secretary of Sappe, Marianna Argenio.

The timely intervention of the prison police officers avoided the worst. The reasons for the attempted assault would be attributable to the failure to transfer to another institution that the prisoner has requested for some time.

Argenio reports that "the situation at Bellizzi prison is alarming also because in the past few weeks other agents have suffered attacks from the prison population. The staff is increasingly fewer and, despite working more than ten-twelve hours a day, they are unable to guarantee the minimum levels of security"
