Even today, a national holiday, the Circumvesuviana has not failed to provide daily disruption to its users. Those who thought that this would not happen today were disappointed.
Because even today something didn't work. A journey in the dark under the tunnel that leads from Vico Equense to Castellammare. It happened to the direct train 1144 that left Sorrento at 14,24 pm. As soon as it left Vico Equense at 14,36 pm and entered the tunnel, the lights in the last carriage went out.
One of the controllers contacted the station to tell what was happening. The train was slow and took longer than expected to arrive at the Castellammare station also because there were problems with the ventilation system.
At that point all the travellers who were in the last carriage were made to get off and sit in the one in front. And only at that point did the train resume its transit for Napoli. And of course in Pompeii, where there were hundreds of tourists, the train was filled to the brim with one less carriage.
