Love is the common thread that holds together the songs proposed, carefully chosen from the Neapolitan, Italian, Portuguese and South American repertoire to trace that sentimental line that unites our Mediterranean and Latin culture. The artists and musicians who will perform in the famous chapel dedicated to the Patron Saint will propose compositions performed, without microphones or amplifiers, according to an acoustic style that ranges from popular folk music to singer-songwriter music. The show will be presented by Francesca Vitelli, writer, President of Enterprisingirls.
The concert will open with Antonella Maisto, a Neapolitan singer-songwriter with a powerful and passionate voice, accompanied by Edo Puccini on guitar who will perform Era de maggio, Luna Nova and Silenzio d'amuri and then move on to some traditional Portuguese songs such as O infante and Senhora do Almortao. The second part of the evening will present an absolute preview of Il viaggio di San Gennaro: il coraggio e l'attesa, an unreleased song created specifically for the Cappella by Marco Francini, accompanied in singing by Roberto Trenca on guitar and Marco Di Palo on cello. The song is part of the special project “La Voce negli antichi spazi” which uses the voice and singing as an “other” use of historical and archaeological sites and which is achieved through acoustic measurements of the spaces to capture their reverberations and make them heard in other sites. After the appointment in Naples, Il viaggio di San Gennaro: il coraggio e l'attesa will be brought to the Dante Alighieri theatre in Ravenna in November, exactly as it will be presented and heard at its Neapolitan debut, that is, not recorded, but live: the artists will apply to their instruments the reverberation captured in the Chapel dedicated to the Patron Saint, during an audio measurement, and will make the audience experience, with a live performance, the unique listening of this place “ideally” transported for the occasion. A unique way to promote historical places through sound.
After this special performance, the voice of Marco Francini will propose three songs by the great Domenico Modugno as a tribute to one of the most important innovators of Italian song: Tu si na cosa grande, Dio Come ti amo and Cosa sono le nuvole (Pasolini – Modugno).
Finally, the extraordinary participation of Barbara Buonaiuto, soloist of the Orchestra Italiana di Renzo Arbore, who will sing Gracias a la vida and Vengo a ofrecer mi corazon to end the evening with two songs that celebrate life, love and hope.
Organized by the Campania Regional Committee of Komen Italia in collaboration with the Tesoro di San Gennaro, the event will be the first step towards the long-awaited RACE FOR THE CURE 2023 in Naples, the symbolic event of Komen Italia considered the largest demonstration for the fight against breast cancer in Italy and in the world, which now takes place in various Italian cities (Rome, Bari, Brescia, Bologna, Matera) and which will be held in the Neapolitan city on October 15th. The concert will also be an opportunity to present the new teams that will be participating in the front line of the Neapolitan marathon: the “Tesoro di San Gennaro Team” curated by the museum dedicated to the Patron Saint and “La Cultura Cura”, a group formed by the State Archives of Naples, the State Archives of Salerno, the State Archives of Caserta, the Archival and Bibliographic Superintendency for Campania together with the Colonnese bookshops in the historic centre of Naples and the Royal Palace of Caserta which will be registration points for the Race for the Cure.
Furthermore, as a testimony of the precious collaboration with the Tesoro di San Gennaro, the museum has produced a line of “pink gadgets” that will be available at the bookshop and which offers objects inspired by the Patron Saint specifically dedicated to raising funds for Susan G. Komen Italia – Campania.
With the concert Con tutto l'amore che posso, the Campania Delegation of Komen Italia intends to contribute and add a piece to the precious humanitarian journey of Komen Italia's activities, which aims to pursue four main objectives: to keep attention high on the topic of breast cancer and more generally on women's health by concretely promoting prevention in its various forms; to support women who experience breast cancer; to strengthen research and opportunities for treatment, permanent training and health education and to help other Associations to better put virtuous ideas into play.
