In view of the national assembly that will be held in Naples on 13 and 14 July, a delegation of the Conference of Territorial Guarantors of Persons Deprived of Personal Liberty met with the Head of the Department of Penitentiary Administration Giovanni Russo.

The delegation was composed of the spokesperson and guarantor of Lazio Stefano Anastasìa, the guarantors of Campania Samuele Ciambriello, Valentina Calderone of Rome Capital and Sofia Ciuffoletti of San Gimignano.

The most pressing issues related to the protection of rights and living conditions within the penitentiary system were discussed, as stated in a note from the guarantors. “The occasion was an important first moment of discussion for the identification of the most pressing and urgent issues that will be explored in subsequent discussions with the Department”, it is underlined.
