Since 4:48 AM today, a seismic swarm has been underway in the Campi Flegrei area . So far, 18 earthquakes with magnitudes between 0 and 2.5 have been preliminarily detected.
The most significant event, located in the Cigliano area of Pozzuoli , occurred at 4:48 am, at a depth of 2,3 kilometers, with a magnitude of 2.5. Last August 18th, for several hours the population of the Phlegraean Fields and the western area of Naples was worried about a seismic swarm with over 100 events recorded in less than 24 hours.
Pozzuoli's mayor, Gigi Manzoni, wrote on his official Facebook page: "In light of the above, the City Council, together with the Civil Protection Department of the Municipality of Pozzuoli, is closely monitoring the evolution of the ongoing seismic sequence and will provide further updates until the event is over."
