Following a tip from some citizens of Monterone, in the last few days we went to via Cava Campo, the road that from the populous neighborhood of Santa Lucia leads up the hill, in the Piellero area.
And as we were informed, the situation we found and promptly filmed with our camera is certainly not that of a civilized country.
In fact, in addition to the dirt on the sides of the road and a pile of waste material, what is striking when driving along via Cava Campo is the presence, everywhere, of weeds that at times, from the ground and from half height, even invade the roadway which at night, according to residents, sees the presence of rats, just like those that in the last few days we filmed in broad daylight in the Panza hamlet near the municipal market that is held weekly in the so-called Cenerentola parking lot.
Not to mention the road damage that sometimes affects the carriageway. And to think that this secondary road is crossed daily by hundreds of tourists, especially foreigners, who love to venture into the hilly roads.
So what do you expect to clean it up and give it a dignified appearance? And in Monterone it is not only the secondary roads that are in a pitiful condition, but also the main ones.
Like the very central Via Provinciale Panza where at times, in addition to the sidewalks that have been terribly damaged for years, weeds sprout like mushrooms everywhere, making it difficult even for pedestrians to pass through. Between wild plants and raised tiles, pedestrians have to do a real slalom to walk, trying to avoid tripping, falling and hitting the ground face down: unbelievable!
A sidewalk that in its damaged sections should be closed to pedestrians as it represents a danger to public safety, especially in the evening and night hours when public lighting is poor due to the thick foliage of the trees in the area.
But is it possible, we ask ourselves, that Monterone cannot be kept better cared for even when the administration even expresses a councilor? The PCIM-L founded by the late Domenico Savio, calls for the immediate cleaning of via Campo and the immediate safety of the sidewalks of via Provinciale Panza.
